The Ripper - LOST Surfboards
A surfboard radically fun and perfect for small waves, sculpted from the incredibly popular Rad Ripper. A surfboard designed to violently tear the everyday and average waves, leaving behind the nostalgia of the 80's in the sand.
Inspired by Kolohe Andino, whose love (and performance) for the Rad Ripper is undeniable. A self-confessed Rad Ripper addict, Kolohe requested tweaks that would remove the nostalgic '80s influences and create a more modern look with less emphasis on revivalism, resulting in a new concept for the Rad Ripper surfboard for small waves.
To achieve this, we eliminated the beak nose and redefined the entire deck line, abandoning the flat deck and steep rails for a moderately curved rail and deck. The tail is excavated with a thinner, squarer block. We eliminated the deep fluted wing, leaving behind a subtle bulge/hip, but kept enough surface area for small waves. The nose is slightly narrowed, with a little more rocker, to fit a little better in tricky transitions.
Like its predecessor, the Rad Ripper, The RIPPER maintains a low overall rocker with a single center concave and a deep/vee double concave that runs through the fins and out the tail. The built-in speed, rowing capability and firm control on carvings that defined the Rad Ripper are integrated into this update.
The RIPPER loves to be surfed aggressively, right from the tail. The low rocker and wide tail block enjoy the pressure of the back foot, driving, chopping and carving harder the more aggressively it rides. More modest or casual surfers will also enjoy its built-in speed and ease of directional changes enabled by the double concave vee.
