The CI 2.0 PRO maintains the same outline and bottom design that led Jack Robinson to win the 2022 SITD, but incorporates a reduced rocker to better adapt to the varied surf styles and waves we anticipate for 2023.
During the launch of the CI Pro, both rockers were tested and proved to be effective in multiple surf conditions. Since then, Channel Islands has found that many riders on the Al Merrick team prefer the original CI Pro rocker, while others favor the 2.0 PRO rocker, both surfboards widely used worldwide by the team.
For the Stab in the Dark 2022 event, Channel Islands designed the CI Pro with a more accentuated rocker, ideal for Hawaii's powerful waves and Jack Robinson's surfing style. In preparation for this year's contest, CI suspected that Italo Ferreira would be the surfer of choice and, anticipating his style and the diverse waves of Brazil, developed a new version of the winning 2023 CI PRO: the CI 2.0 PRO, now with a slightly reduced rocker.
The Al Merrick 2.0 PRO is designed to maximize performance and speed, thanks to the smaller rocker that makes it easier to surf a variety of waves and suits a wider range of surfers. With a ¼" reduction in rocker compared to the CI Pro, the 2.0 PRO maintains a subtle single concave that evolves into a lightweight double concave under the fins, providing a connected feel to the water in transitions.
For those who are already fans of the CI Pro, the 2.0 PRO is an excellent addition to their collection, ideal for less intense conditions. And for those who found the CI Pro a bit demanding, the 2.0 PRO offers an affordable and versatile alternative.
